Song For This Post: Weezer - The Girl Got Hot

So this post was inspired by Project Themeory, an awesome collection of stores presenting limited time themed items from weekend to weekend (some vendors still had their items out today, so join the inworld group to grab a list - otherwise, join up and wait for next week!). This first look doesn't feature anything from this particular weekend's theme *cough* which was "Geek Chic", BUT it does fit in with the theme! I swear. The second features a few items from Project Themeory tho, and I have another post in the works for tomorrow, as really, there is so much awesome stuffs <3.

Oh, and the song? Weezer is the ultimate Geek Chic band IMHO (as well as a cpl of others you'll be seeing in the next few posts). I would eat Rivers Cuomo on ice cream. This is a song/album I am currently addicted to. Jay Malinowski is the lead singer for Bedouin Soundclash, though his solo release is nothing like their sound. It's haunting and lonely, and just gorgeous. His version of this Bedouin Soundclash song is so heartwrenching, with a completely beautiful vid to go with..

Today is Pink Shirt Day.. A day that was started in Canada, after a boy got bullied for wearing a pink shirt to school. His school rallied around him, and a group of boys decided to wear pink shirts to show support. But today I feel only sadness. Today I can only think of Phoebe Prince. She was a beautiful soul.. relentlessly bullied day in and day out - at school, at home, online, via text msg, and everybody knew. EVERYBODY - teachers, "friends", the principal. And not one person did one goddamned thing. Not the school, not her peers.. NOONE. On Jan 14th, 2010, after yet another day of constant harassment, incl a Red Bull can being thrown at her head on the way home from school, she walked in her door, up to her room, and hung herself. Even after her suicide, the menace persisted; comments were plastered all over her facebook, her family's sites, anything online that mentioned her name. She is gone now, and noone can ever take back what was done to her. I feel so beyond horror, so beyond tears. Pink shirts might not have saved her.. but someone could have. Someone could have helped pull her out of the personal hell she was in. Will you be that person, for the next Phoebe Prince?

Greg Dulli (for those of you who don't know) is/was the lead singer of the Afghan Whigs, and the Twilight Singers. He oozes this sultry sexualised adoration and love that just GETS me everytime, every song. I've said it before, I'll say it again.. I love love love this song. This is a live version by Scott Weiland of a song he did w/The Magnificent Bastards, which was featured in the Tank Girl movie soundtrack (a now not-so-secret favourite of mine!).

T he other thing I have to tell you about is: The Dressing Room outlet. Song For This Post: Modest Mouse - Ocean Breathes Salty

For this look, I wanted a song that was haunting and surreal - and Modest Mouse is a band that so often holds both of those qualities. Plus? This song has been stuck in my mind for some days now. What better way to exorcise it than to use it to soundtrack my trip through Putrid's sims? I flitted around so much, wandering aimlessly, that I couldn't tell you which was taken where exactly, but go explore it for yourself. This is a very haunting instrumental from a band I've loved for the longest time (thanks to Eeka & Natas for making me dig 'em out again), and it so suits the surreal, slightly uneasy look I have going here. Ahhhh St. Patricks Day! I love this holiday so much. Being a girl from Providence RI, I spent most of my adult St Pat'ses trolling round Prov/Boston getting successively drunker and drunker as the pub crawl continued (and snogging irish boys in cramped pub corners but those stories are staying untold lol). I still do that.. (minus the irish boys *ahem*) but Vancouver doesn't do the day quite as well (as I am spoiled by my East Coast roots. Also ffs no DKM St Pat shows for 6 yrs in a row now *sadface*). This is a lightning fast post that is essentially about two things: 1) AM Radio's new installation "Into The Sky" and 2) more items for Haiti Relief, incl some from 50L Friday!

This post I'm featuring one of my favourite skybox.home builders in SL, Molto Bene!. Gorgeous texturing, sleek low primmage, the things coming from this store are so appealing to me. The crate I am on in the above pic is also part of the Haiti Relief Skybox. You get 6 crates, each with a different sit pose in them for the incredible price of 99L! AND the proceeds of this item (when bought from the skybox) go entirely to the Red Cross fund. The gorgeous skybox I am in is the Mini Seaside cabin (50L 16prims!). It has a 10x10 footprint, which is ample for me, and comes with either plain walls, or lyrics, as you see behind me.

This next pic, I'm inside my absolute favie piece, Aden&Anna's Pigeon Coop (150L 33 prims). It has working doors and the usual attention to detail you can guarantee from Molto Bene!. So this outfit is inspired by both the gorgeous Nickel Creek song I have running through my head, and by Clawtooth By Clawtooth's recent Halloween release of Pink Champagne hair in Softest Black (75L for a 2pk of colours, 4 styles of hair to choose from). I love the romantic soft dreaminess of this hair. I knew I needed an equally soft, romantic, vaguely 20s inspired headband, and when I slipped on the Rozen Maiden Headdress from Tarnished (oL Hunt Gift, tho I cannot remember which for the life of me.. perhaps the Twisted Hunt?), it was perfect.

The skin I am wearing in another Phoebe Skin from lessthanthree, Makeup 01. Softly coloured, it just fit the mood of the outfit I wanted. These go for 600L/skin, and you get a bald base or a hair base option, as well as special Phoebe Cates inspired eyes, with each makeup. You can also buy the fatpack for 4000L, which might seem like a lot, but she includes the 6 skins she released to her group memebers, never to be given out again, so you get an incredible deal! Plus, you can purchase these at the Skin Fair, and 50% of the proceeds go to breast cancer research.

The rest of my outfit is comprised of Decoy's hooded blazer (0L/fatpack for a limited time), OhMai's Hi Rise tank (5L/colourpk), Humming's wool check skirt (1L), Kneesocks Mit Suspenders from Pig Shop (75L), and 50 Flat's Moss Wool Flap Flats (0L in store gift). I love this whole outfit. It is exactly what I'd love to wear on those Fall days that are just crisp enough to wear layers, but warm enough that they aren't heavy ones.

Autumn in Vancouver often involves many days of rain. Granted, this year, we seem to be extraordinarily blessed with sunny days, which is far more like the coppery gold New England autumns I've been craving lately. So, this is the post I was intending on doing when my modem went kaputski.. The hair may no longer be available, and if not, I apologise mightily! It's an incredibly detailed cap/hair combo from Waka & Yuki (0L instore Fall Gift).

The wicked coat is from Maschienwerk - a store I've blogged about before. This Navy Pea Coat is 0L (as is everything else at this location) and is completely resizable, so both sexes can wear it comfortably. The scarf is a gift from last year's Halloween by G Field, and the jeans are from The Plastik (Skinnah Halftone in Inertia - 0L former group gift). The boots are by J's (3way engineer boots 400L/colour).

This skin is one I've previously blogged, from lessthanthree - part of the Phoebe preview group gifts Nykki lavished upon us. So, yeah my modem COMPLETELY melted down and after a truly annoying back and forth with my provider, I am back up and running. With this post of awesome *grin*. Yes, I have caught the fever.. because I have been listening to Karen O and The Kids' "Where The Wild Things Are" soundtrack. Pretty close to nonstop.

First - I have on the awesome group gift hair from Tarnished - Wild One. There is another version in store for sale that I will blog as soon as I can snap it up. With it I have the "Just Hope" hoodie (sans hood >.<) and jeans outfit from Tyranny Designs (400L for the full outfit w/sceptre/300L for just the hoodie/sceptre). It is quite possible that these may be my favourite new jeans. I may wear them until their pixels rot off my bod.

This post is another fast one about two amazing finds I made today which are PERFECT for Halloween, or any day, should you be so inclined. One is due to Beanie's blog *hooks a thumb at my bloglist*; this gorgeous group gift from *Kiitos!. It's instore, along with the above pose. Intricate texturing and softness.. this will be a definite fave of mine for sure.

Next is this skin I found while exploring Silent Sparrow's sim. I found Achariya's storefront for Bitter Ink, and while peeking around inside, found a box with two Starlight skin mods Ach had created (0L). This one is the "plain" one. I LOVE the ghostly, sweet details, and the lips are gorgeously kissable. Yeah. I said it. What?

Just a quickie to jump the gun on my 3rd fave holiday (eclipsed only by my birthday and St. Pat's). And also to squeal over {frick}'s new group gift - the maraud group gift skin and eyes in group only colours! These come in a pack with awesome Neko skins in two tones. I'm showing the peach tone here, along with the incredible Neko eyes. I love these!

The wicked piercings I have on are a just released dollarbie from ellabella, who makes some of the most gorgeous piercings I've seen. My hair is from Tiny Bird - KissyKissy (0L from the Poop Hunt). The horns and wings are from Uncle Wiggily, which, very sadly, no longer exists.

My outfit is pieces from Sn@ tch; the Libertine outfit (50L during a long ago Riot Vend session). Still available, and at a reasonable price (I want to say 250L but I'm not certain anymore). These were the first proper bloomers I saw in SL, and I loved them from the moment I saw them. Onto the pretty clothes! This may be a look you'll see me sporting more and more as I love it soo much. Both the jacket and the skirt are from oyakin. The skirt is part of the group gift (0L in notices still I THINK), and the jacket is something I plan to collect in every colour (90L). The skirt is my favourite in sl right now, and I am drooling over the bright blue! Ah well, next pay period. I spent a lot, selectively, during my shopping excursions this past little bit.

With it, I am wearing the Millionaire hair from Tiny Bird (complete with tiara) that was Autmn's most recent 50L Friday offering. I LOVE the soft fluffiness of the hair, and the tiara is texture-scripted to match any outfit you can come up with. I also have on Tarnished's BonBon socks (75L/fatpack incredible steal!). The gorgeous skin is lessthanthree's phoebe 02, one of the incredible skins she will be releasing for the upcoming skin fair, and the necklace is from Boing Fromage (prev blogged).

For my next autumn look, I am showcasing lessthanthree's phoebe group gift in the summer makeup. I so love the light dusting of freckles and gently pink tinge - like the last fading of a summer sunburn. Lovely.

The gorgeous tunic and skirt I am wearing is from Oyakin - a store I am excited to see has rebuilt and even creating such new gorgeous flowy garments that I have not seen on the grid,
ethereal floating layers, including some with soft glow. You can buy them separately for 100L or so each, or together in this sweet outfit for 150L.

My accessories for this outfit are very simple, and things, for the most part, that I have had for a long time. My hair and necklace are both 50L Friday items I've previously blogged. The armwarmers are from a store called shu*shu which I am afraid seems to have disappeared. My boots are from J's (0L prev group gift), and the socks are from magi take (20L fat pack).

Autumn is my favourite time of year. I love the clothes, I love the colours.. that smell in the air. I feel the most at home during this time, more than any other season. My next few posts will involve this thene, AND all will feature one of the skins from lessthanthree's special Phoebe line. I hope I do these justice, because they are soooo lovely.

This first one is the bare, base skin. I love the softness, and Nykki's tocuh with the lips always makes me melt. No freckles, as Miss Phoebe Cates wasn't freckled, though if inspired to do so later, she MIGHT release some.

My outfit consists of the wonderful fall sweater from &bean (1L in store gift, belw the stairs), my FAVOURITE prim vest from DP yumyum (0L lucky board gift, probably not still available, but really, you never know I s'pose), and pants from Slanted Fox's now legendary 1L closing sale. I also have on leggings from Mirrors to keep out the crisp chill, and what will probably be my favourite accessory this fall - the owl necklace from Boing Fromage! There are two different kinds, but I started with this one. This particular necklace comes in four metal colours (120L). Owls (and turtles) are my thing. Maybe it's having a hippie mom who loved to macrame, but the 70s owl graphic has always been something I've been drawn to. Generally, if it has an owl (or turtle) on it, I must have it.

The hair I'm wearing is from Tiny Bird, the Art Teacher II (oL amazing fat pack hunt gift from the Poop Hunt), and the Willy Wonka bar of awesome is from Harajuku Box's Bake Sale (2L - there are two other kinds of chocolate bars as well)

Quick simplicity on this post, because I *think* I'll be bringing you a couple of posts today! This outfit hinged completely on This Is A Fawn's Deep Vneck. A special limited offer for Tyranny's store birthday, you can get these in a 3 pack of colours for 111L (black, teal and blood red). I love the fading on these, and hope Barb thinks about doing more variations of this theme.

The skin I am wearing is a recent Tuli group gift (250L join fee), and I love it! I also have on a previous So Kinky event gift from Glitter (0L which I tinted), Miel's awesome necklace from their past 50L Friday set.

The jeans I have on were part of the men's Fall Group Gift outfit from Rasetsukoku, which also contained a women's outfit. I LOVE these jeans and am glad to see more clothes being released by the brand. I also have on my favourite hoofies from Lazy Places, the Ungulate. Not free, but soooo worth it!

Okay so, I am not a blonde girl. It just isn't my preference, and oftentimes when I wear blonde hair in SL, I feel very not me. But lately, I have been drawn to the powder colour from lamb. I love it! I don't know what it is about the colour that I find so attractive, but, it just.. works. So I thought today, I would feature my now favourite blonde colour, along with the appropriate song. (I collect jennifer songs btw. Weird idiosyncracy, yes, but I do.)

This first look is comprised entirely of pieces from the silentsparrow (ember) Gnubie Store offering (0L for sooo many pieces!!). Hya is so generous to both new residnets and her twittery bird group members that she deserves your patrnage. Her attention to detail, and fun natured releases make everyone drool. And while yes, her outfits are geared towards the gothic, honestly, they are also very versatile when pulled apart, or worn differently.

The lamb hair I am wearing with this outfit is called Unbirthday Redux (300L/colour pack). My necklace was an awesome find I discovered last Halloween from a store called **mischievous cat**. It is a scripted watch - that tells real time and can be set to either SL time, or your own time zone. While this particular item is no longer available, there is a gorgeous ocean blue version in the lucky board that I am dying to get. Not to mention the other gorgeous pieces of jewelry and watches for both sexes.

This next outfit features the lamb hair I blogged previously as a 50L Friday item, and is how I would wear my hair irl; except, you know, not blonde >.< . With it I have on The Plastik's Addiction Hunt gift (0L - incl a sweater of the same colour as well), and leggings from Mirrors (0L previous gift I do not think is available any longer). This is another quickie - Sugarcube is offering a free gift if you complete a quick survey about prim resizer scripts. With such a sweet, proper dress, I felt I needed to really edge it out. I stopped by &bean and discovered that she has a sale going on with her angry girl line - AND two editions of the Angry Girl skins on special for 50L. I love the beat up, yet totally like "yeah and, sucka? Imma kick you ass" yet completely angelic face. Once I had the skin, I knew I needed something really messy, really striking and different. I checked my notices for Red Queen just to see the new releases and found this awesome new hair gift called Honeymoon. Perfect! Don't you just want to kiss my booboos away?

To finish out the look, I pulled out the awesome tattoo that is one of the current (and numerous) group gifts available at i love 13. I can't get over how it sits so perfectly along the collarbones. Were I that brave, I would love this tat irl. No joke. To round it all out, I'm wearing the Katat0nik stockings that came with the purple Sakura dress, and my prev blogged engineer boots and Church of Luxe top. Have you noticed that I often tend to pull at least one piece over from my previous blog? It isn't intentional, but you know? It shows that everything in your closet has potential to work with many different looks. Think outside the box, girls (and guys, you're not exempt from the fashion).

This post is to announce something I am soooo excited about Nykki Heartsdale of lessthanthree is back creating skins again! lessthanthree has always been on of my favourite skin lines, and to have Nykki back at her creating is so exciting. her new line of skins is not out yet - BUT she released a special review of her Phoebe skins (named for their similarity to Phoebe Cates, who I just wanted to BE) to her group in Vamp makeup. Ye gods I love this skin! I can't wait to see this line when it comes out for the skin fair. Lookity-look-look-lookIT:

The other cool thing I am showing is something I'd wanted to blog earlier, but ran out of steam. But that does not detract from its awesomeness. It is the group gift from This Is A Fawn, a special soft rose colouring of the Caulfield dress in plaid. I love these dresses and plan to go get the rest of the colours. They just cry fall to me.

Just a super quick post to show you all about the loverliness I just got over @ fri.day's tag sale. Everything in the store is either 50, 75, or 100L. I picked up the Lola hairstyle in the browns pack of 4 for 75L, as well as this awesome long cardi in grey. I got the pack that has all three lengths of sleeves: long, scrunched, and short. It is a steal at 100L, though you can buy individual cardis at 75L.

Yes I am wearing the Pig Shop shirt I just blogged, and the kicks in a different colour that I have talked about in two previous post - i tend to obsess. Plus, it is just a quickie for you to get your butt over to fri.day and buy up some goodness while the sale is still going!! My glasses are from Miel, and were last month's subscribo gift - the Bella Peepers. Get in on this group already! And patronise the store, as a thank you to the designer. Today I decided to do a bit more exploring of the Switch sim, and rediscovered a little place in the creator's pavilion that I love - Cherry Branch. Often times, I would come here and just sit quietly, listening to music and thinking. I do that a lot in Second Life, so hopefully you don't get bored of it. Also a great place to bring friends for confabs and silliness, if that helps any!

This whole outfit centers around the snuggly gorgy sweater from Kosh - this week dollarbie offering. yep, that's right 1L, for this week only so go snap it up right quick. I paired it with the God Made Argyle skirt from Frop! (0L from their Midnight Mania outfit), as well as my favourite comfy buttoned leggings from Sh*t Happens - unfortunately no longer available.

My hair is from Hair Solutions, called Reese. Normally this goes for 200L per 4pk of colours, but with the generous group gift of a 300L gift card, I snagged this for free. The perfect cap that I'm wearing is also a dollarbie, Humby Designs' contribution to the bridge gifts @ Stalust's Bill sim.

Finally, check out my cute shoes!! These come in 5 colours, with each colour having 3 style options. AND they are 0L!!!!!! These come from the store 2g in celebration of their Switch store opening, and are in a little basket outside the shop door. You don't want to miss these, so make sure to stop by, as well as check out their moderately priced items inside. This shop makes intricate, gorgeous accesories.

So tonight I was wandering around, exploring, as I happened upon this awesome club called The Library. The owner was there, and we chatted while I snapped these pics. It isn't finished completely yet, but I can tell you, this will be a home away from home. All warm and cozy, and with Athena looking for DJs to spin some eclectic indie type musics, I know I'll fit right in! Plan to see a lot more about this club as it opens in September!

My outfit tonight consists of my usual mashup of old and new, free and not.. And it perfectly suited my mood, comfy and cute, with a touch of the quirky thrown in. I am sitting in my sailboat listening to the rain POUR down in torrential sheets right now, swaddled in blankets, and if I wasn't in jammas, this is what I would want to wear irl.

This look started with the amazing cardigan from OhMai!. This was the opening 0L gift for the Switch sim (which is part of the creator's pavilion group). It comes in so many other colours, and I can tell you, I will be grabbing quite a few and making them a staple in my wardrobe. Once I had the cardi, I knew that I had to wear the Skipping Stones hunt gift from (epoque). I adore these glasses!

The hair is also from OhMai! and is a special version of Tiffee created exclusively for the Designer's United "jellyfish" exhibition, now over. It was 300L for a pack of 5 colours. With this, I am wearing Pig Shop's Alphabet City snug fit shirt (50L during a former 50L Friday), and the Vigoss jeans from A.Y.Y. (1L - now replaced with a different, yet equally awesome pair of jeans for 1L). My kicks are the same 0L ones from Maschienenwerk I blogged previously, but in white this time, and my skin is also the same from the previous post.

I hope she thinks of making more skins, cos I am in love with all three makeups she created for the hunt. So lovely..

Look at these great kicks from Maschienenwerk! These honestly may be my favourite Chucks in SL. And the price can't be beat - 0L - just like everything at their shop. The best part is, they come in male and female sizes, and are size scripted for the best fit possible. I also have on Pig Shop's Socks mit Suspenders (25L during the 4th of July sale). I love these socks so much!

Finally, the piece that started the whole outfit - Doppleganger's 50 Linden Friday offering: Madras shorts in a limited Nantucket colouring. If you haven't heard of this awesome Friday event, I don't know where you've been! Basically, every Friday, a select collection of stores put out a top nitch, limited item for only 50L. These items are the creme de la creme of their collections, and very often are in colours that are only available for that friday. Make sure you hop on this opportunity, and there is even a group you can join to get updates on who is participating each week. With them, I slipped on one of my favourite basics - the milky ribbon tank from Sugarcube (1L). This is another group you need to join as Sayuri is incredibly generous to her subscribo group members, and I have a future post planned that will center around all the gorgeousness she creates.

So today I went wandering around the Harold sim, taking pics for the Starlust Flckr contest, and I loved my outfit so much I had to blog it! It all revolves around these two gifts from Reek! - the huggable robot from the Feed Your Head hunt, and the little guy sitting on my shoulder (0L group giftie from the 4th of July - still available to subscribo members I believe). Technically it attaches to your head, but I just did a quick prim adjustment. I can't get over their cuteness! Totally adorable...

All the pictures I have taken here were pictures for the contest (2 I used, 2 I decided to put here). I'm all for the two birds with one stone yaddayadda. So, they were taken around the Harold sim, and I had a lot of fun doing them! All of the poses (aside from the last pic - that's my Line AO) are from (pda).

Today OMGWTF of This Is A Fawn dropped the most beautiful dresses on me! I always squeee whenever I see she's released something new, and this was no exception. I'm in love with the slightly naughty floatiness. I've been flouncing around all day while struggling to take a decent shot *grin*. These dresses aren't released - YET - but they will be when she opens her mainstore (!!) on Saturday. Here's her NC detailing the fun:

The Leda dresses will retail at 140L/colour, and I think you absolutely need these. I might never take them off. In the first shot I am wearing the grey with my previously blogged lamb hair and boots. The second features the seafoam, with Pig Shop socks (0L group gift) and my favourite boots from Darkstar Designs (loooong since defunct, but still beloved by me), as well as the Rebecca hair from JUNWAVE (80L/colour). So FINALLY my SL is back! *makes extreme yay arms* I've not been able to de-cloud for ages now, and then my inventory wouldn't load, etc etc etc. It all pretty much started that infamous day all of SL but the infohubs died. BUT I'm back now *knocks on wood, crosses my fingers and throws salt over my shoulder*. I will say just how completely insane it was to take these pictures. For some reason, I have to hold the camera waaay out just to take a picture that isn't an upclose of my torso. The fun part was having to take 10 test shots to figure where the camera was going to take the picture, THEN pushing graphics to Ultra to take the shot. Oh and pray that some *coughs* person doesn't come along and knock you out of the rafters not once but three times in a row (yeah I'm talking to you!! Grrrrr). Hopefully these pics are up to snuff! I have many more things to blog, if I can just get the picutres taken - you should be seeing some fun things coming up!

First up is my hair! it's the new release from lamb. I'm sure everyone has seen it plastered all over the feeds, and at the hair fair, but I just can't get over how gorgeous it is, and just how much it is a look I really wear. It's called Dog Roses (300L for 4 pk of colours), and formed the idea for this outfit.

My outfit consists of mostly new things that I just love. My sweater and socks are both from Pig Shop (75L and 25L respectively during Pig Shop's 4th Of July sale). The pants are from Sugarcube, and they are so perfectly textured (150L - I think I missed a sale though). I also have on Sugarcube's Ribbon Shirt (0L) under the sweater. My boots of extreme fabulosity come from Lya (0L hunt gift during the My Heart Belongs to Daddy Hunt at Retrology). I loooooove these boots. They come with/without black lace options.

All Dressed Up

Last night I was feeling dressy (and even popped into the BBBC Rave, before the amazing lights crashed me out lol), so I slipped into a dress I've loved, yet never worn. It is GBL's Chocolate Honey Dress (0L special edition for the Crush Row St. Pat's Hunt). i love the gorgeous textures and folds, and flouncy shape. Makes me want to be all girly and fawned over by a special someone. Instead of that, I went exploring with my new friend Cloud, and played on swings and monkeybars before making the mistake of trying to take a picture. That crashed me for good!

Check out the detailing in the back! I love the texture on the pretty green ribbon.

I also have on some of my favourite new tights from a store that I THINK is called Kabochan World (oL for a pack of asst colours), and these gorgeously chocolatey Kristin boots from ETD (50L during the famous sale).

To add some pop to the look, I accessorised with this awesome jewelry set from PIDIDDLE called Blob. I have NO idea where/when I got this set, but I suspect it was some time ago, and possibly for 10L? Forgive me Brutus! lol My poses are from HappyMood (the location as well) and Izumiya.
